Behind The Shadows Lie Madness is intense death metal with a psychedelic edge. The guitar work is outstanding with tons of creative riffs and unusual licks. There are also several parts that sound like synths, but are actually done on the guitar. Mithras has drawn a lot of comparisons to Morbid Angel, and while there are some similarities, Mithras has a sound all their own.

Mithras are technically proficient and also very innovative. The use of interludes is a nice musical sorbet to clear the palate before diving back into brutality. Behind The Shadows Lie Madness is spacey and atmospheric while also remaining extreme and intense. It's an album that hooks you on first listen, but grows even more addictive with each additional spin.
